Don't be afraid to ask for references when dealing with another party. Perhaps call somebody in the area that can tell you if the person/business is reputable. 5. Use an intermediary or bank to escrow papers/titles or funds on large transactions to make sure a closing consummates to your satisfaction. 6. If you don't know what something is worth, there are many places in your phone book or the Internet that can help you arrive at a value.
